Recital Costumes

All students are included in our annual production in June at the Centennial Concert Hall. Costumes are made by Dance Plus. A costume deposit of $40.00 per student and per routine is due at the time of costume fitting. This deposit will be subtracted from your final costume fee in April and is non-refundable after December 31st.
Costume prices range from approximately $65.00 (young students)-$110.00 per costume, including GST and PST. Prices will vary from class to class and year to year depending on the style of costume, type of fabric and type of trim used.
Costumes are designed and created for individual students by the instructor and costume designer. The final result is always a wonderful costume that compliments a spectacular year end show. Watch for dates regarding in- studio costume fittings and in- studio costume pick up dates. Unclaimed or unpaid for costumes must be picked up at Dance Plus.

Recital Tickets

Recital tickets are sold through Ticketmaster. Tickets are approximately $18.00 which includes all taxes and fees taken by Ticketmaster and the Concert Hall. There is no limit to the number of tickets you can purchase, however, be aware that the morning tickets go on sale all phones and outlets at Ticketmaster will be very busy. Please be prepared ahead of time that you may have a bit of a wait when purchasing your tickets.
DBSD has held our annual show at the Concert Hall for over twenty years; it is a wonderful experience for the children, as well as a comfortable space for the parents. Because of the number of students we need to hold in backstage areas and dressing rooms it is an ideal spot for us, however, please help us out by only having one adult per child at dress rehearsal and backstage on recital night. A DVD of the year end recital is available for purchase, order forms will be sent home.Videotaping and flash photos are not allowed at the show.

Recital Volunteers

A sign-up sheet for Parent Volunteers will be posted at the beginning of April. One to three volunteers are needed for each class requiring assistance. Volunteers are welcome to enjoy the show for free from the second balcony and watch the class that they are assisting up close from backstage. Volunteers are a big part of making the Recital a success, please lend us a hand and sign up early. It is mandatory that every class have at LEAST one volunteer, feel free to sign up at the desk anytime of the year.

Manitoba Provincial Dance Festival

In- class evaluations begin in September. Teachers will make their recommendations for solos, duos, trios and small groups in December or sooner. Results will be mailed home. Extra rehearsal time and fees will apply. Classes are chosen to participate in the Festival by individual instructors. Festival jazz students should be enrolled in at least one ballet class.

ADAPT (Tap and Jazz) and Cecchetti (Ballet) Exams

Teachers will recommend students for inclusion in the Brian Foley Adapt exams and the Cecchetti ballet exams. There are extra fees and classes involved. If your child is chosen for exams we will send homes notes requesting parent’s approval. If questions arise at that time we encourage you to talk to your child’s teacher or to Barb. Please call us with any questions you have regarding dance classes. We look forward to meeting you and your child at the first day of dance.
